Job Summary

Sustainability is a growing field that uses a holistic lens to investigate and problem solve the environmental, social, and economic problems our world faces. The Social Media Intern will assist the Office of Sustainability & Campus Enrichment in creating a culture of sustainability at Texas A&M University through OS social media platforms. The job involves working both independently and with OS team members to develop social media content for @sustainableTAMU. Current active platforms include Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Strategizes and creates content for all OS social media channels and online outreach.
  2. Plans, designs, collects, edits, and sends engaging and audience-focused content for OS, Aggie Green Fund, and Aggie Sustainability Alliance.
  3. Develops social media campaigns to increase engagement across platforms, networks, and audiences.
  4. Support OS interns in the development of social media content.
  5. Works collaboratively with the OS staff and student team to implement storytelling strategies through social media.
  6. Researches and applies new trends to enhance the user experience on social media.
  7. Strategizes content for and attends campus sustainability events, takes photos, and posts timely content on social media.
  8. Gain experience working in a diverse team-based office setting that coordinates with all divisions and departments of campus.
  9. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at Texas A&M working toward a bachelor's degree.

Required special knowledge, abilities, and skills:

  1. Experience with designing and writing social media posts and promotional materials.
  2. Experience in and knowledge of various Social Media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.).
  3. Experience with social media strategy.
  4. Attention to detail and basic knowledge of general office use of computers and software applications.
  5. Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.

Preferred skills:

  1. Work-Study Certificate.
  2. Previous experience managing professional and /or organizational social media platforms.
  3. Previous experience managing a personal account with a large audience (1000+ followers).
  4. Knowledge of social media trends and methods to increase reach and followers.
  5. Experience creating social media graphics.
  6. Knowledge of software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or Canva.
  7. Social media management tools such as Hootsuite.
  8. Experience creating email campaigns and e-newsletters.
  9. Video and/or photography experience.
